Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)

What is SaaS?

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is part of cloud computing, where the software provider is directly responsible for providing, maintaining, and updating the software and hardware to run the application.  Popularized by online email, today SaaS extends to financial, HR, commerce, operational systems, and a wide range of tools.

How SaaS works?

SaaS is the use of centralized software through an internet browser, instead of the software application installed locally.  The user (and corporate IT) is free to focus on the software's data and functionality.

Users pay for a subscription to use the software instead of purchasing the software.
